Trend report: Accessory inspiration from the Spring 2017 bridal shows

Guest post from Helen McMurdo, founder of ElleandAdhira.com

If the Spring 2017 bridal collections from some of the industry’s biggest labels are anything to go by, next year’s brides will be sleek, beaded, and elegantly sexy. So how does this aesthetic translate to accessories? Let’s take a look at how four of the biggest trends in bridal fashion can take shape in ways beyond the dress.

Trend 1: Show that skin

Plunging necklines, bare-all backs, exposed shoulders… Next year’s bride will be sexier and sleeker than perhaps ever before. If your gown shows a lot of skin, choose accessories with a matte finish – rather than gleaming crystals and bling – so your wedding-day look is more runway than showgirl.

Trend 2: Opulent veils.
As silhouettes become sleeker, high-impact veils have returned to runways. The modern veil is still sleek and low-volume, but we’ve been treated to veils with opulent beadwork and embroidery – particularly around the crown, face and shoulder.

Trend 3: Statement Earrings

It seems that the new sleeker bridal silhouette is also giving space for statement earrings to make their impact. If your gown has ornate detail and beading, choose matte earrings rather than crystals – to ensure you avoid the matchy-matchy trap.

Trend 4: Pants
It’s official: Bridal pants are here! If you’re bold enough to choose this option for your own wedding, consider pairing them with a headpiece to increase the formality and special-occasion feel.  And for shoes, choose sharply feminine pointed pumps rather than rounded shapes to ensure your look is more Amal Clooney than Hillary Clinton (not that we don’t love you, Hillz!).
