When West Meets East

The focus of this styled shoot was to showcase a fusion of the West and the East in a modern way.

The colour palette was composed of the rich, passionate red which embodies the festive new year, black to emphasize authority and elegance, gold for grandeur and prosperity, along with a touch of lavender to fuse the modern and the traditional, the Eastern and Western culture.

This first gown was a descriptive interpretation of fusion; the hand-sawn cranes embody longevity and peace in the Chinese culture, plum blossoms, often depicted in Chinese poems and art, symbolize beauty, perseverance and hope, and the one-shoulder design that tells these Chinese values with a modern approach.

Second dress is a clean, modern all white pant suit with embroidered lace that are similar to the intricate patterns of the temples in Taiwan along with European inspired full and loose sleeves. The rich red lip showcased the Chinese festive red, and was paired with an effortless, more westernized wavy updo; the overall ensemble implied authority and empowerment.

The last outfit was a soft gold gown with most embroidered lace, mimicking traditional Chinese royal patterns, and the use of chiffon and the drop shoulder design further incorporated contemporary fashion. This last look exhibited royal affluence and new year abundance, and was paired with a sleeker, more formal ponytail.
