What’s the checklist for your honeymoon? Luxury? Privacy? Tranquility? Gourmet food? Pampering galore? Whatever it is, you can’t go past the ultimate romantic experience The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah, an indulgent luxury hotel, set in the heart of Ubud.
Nestled amongst more than 12 acres of emerald green rice paddies, The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah is a dream honeymoon destination that absolutely ticks all the boxes.
With only twenty residences, the experience is ever so personalized and no request is too difficult for the incredible staff. The villas are filled with stunning art pieces from the private collection of Hendra Hadiprana, one of Indonesia’s most respected art collectors. There are one bedroom suites that overlook lotus ponds, or for even more of an indulgence – there are one bedroom pool villas where you can relax by your private pool completely undisturbed.
The luxury doesn’t stop there, the service and experience is exceptional.
From VIP airport transfers where you can skip the dreaded queues and get on with relaxing, daily breakfasts, afternoon teas and sunset cocktails, to morning yoga, personal butlers and a range of activities to keep even the avid adventures entertained. Here are a few of my highlights from my recent stay…
The Location
Ubud has long been renowned as Bali’s ultimate getaway destination for when you want to escape the hustle and bustle for a bit of relaxation. It’s iconic rice terraces and countless Hindu temples, where painters, mask makers, sculptors, stone and wood carvers, dancers and musicians thrive. It’s a place of true serenity and beauty. The Chedi Club is removed just enough from the centre of Ubud that it feels like you’ve entered remote Bali – surrounded by a picturesque local village and rice paddies. During the day if you are seeking a change of scenery or to do a bit of shopping, there are drivers to take you to the centre of Ubud or wherever else your heart desires.
The History
Just outside the artists’ village of Ubud, the former estate of Hendra Hadiprana, one of Indonesia’s most respected art collectors has been transformed into an intimate luxury retreat with twenty individual villas, each one uniquely featuring original Balinese artworks from his collection.
The Rice Walk
Enjoy morning walks deep into the fabled Balinese rice paddies with your butler. Guided on foot by your Balinese butler, you’ll stop in at a nearby village to witness daily life, from temple offerings to cooking and traditional arts & crafts. This experience is second to none, and it alone is enough to visit the Chedi Club for!
The Restaurant
Overlooking lush rice paddy fields, the Restaurant and Club Lounge provides a unique setting for your dining experience. Chef Khairudin ‘Dean’ Nor incorporates produce from resort’s organic garden into traditional Balinese and Asian cuisine. From an extensive range of breakfast options, a delectable afternoon tea and fine dining dinner – the food and beverage was absolutely flawless.
The Spa
What would a holiday to Bali be without a daily spa treatment?! Those seeking serenity and rejuvenation will find both in abundance at The Spa, nestled at one edge of the seemingly endless paddy fields. They use the finest of local and European natural oils for one of the best massages I’d had in my life. If this wasn’t enough for your rejuvenation, there is also a well-equipped fitness center, swimming pool, complimentary morning yoga classes and a tennis court.
The Culture
The rustic chic five-hectare hotel in Ubud offers an authentic backdrop to one of Bali’s most dramatic performances, the Kecak dance – performed at the resort’s very own amphitheatre.
So go ahead and book in your next romantic getaway or honeymoon at The Chedi Club now.
