If the inspiration of the Jenny Packham Autumn Winter collection was Slim Aarons, then the starting point for the mainline collection evolved from the photograph ‘Poolside Gossip’. Taken in the summer of 1970 in Palm Springs, California, the scene is an al fresco drinks party in the garden of a modernist Richard Neutra house, a backdrop of rugged mountains in the distant horizon. In the foreground, two beautiful women lounge by a pool, whilst a third walks towards them, cocktail in hand. It is an image of stylised perfection.
Jenny Packham’s new collection delves into the world of these women. Imagining a wardrobe befitting the myriad dazzling social engagements of a Southern Californian belle at the turn of the decade, these are clothes celebrating the glamour, elegance and decadence of social dressing during a golden age of excess. The pieces could so easily be adapted for brides and bridesmaids with stunning effect.
With a saccharine 60’s palette and a modish 70’s stylistic sensibility, Jenny Packham AW19 is a glamorous collection of exquisite special occasion pieces and feminine silhouettes, designed for the modern cocktail glitterati.
The campaign was photographed in London by Iakovos Kalaitzakis. Film by Black Dots Video.
