Daughters of Simone – Come Hell or High Water

This years Daughters of Simone collection ‘Come Hell of High Water’ was inspired by the American artist, Georgia O’Keeffe.

O’Keeffe spent time in New Mexico from 1934 – 1986 where she lived in solitude as she created some of her best work. She spent her days climbing the white rocks, teaching herself how to drive, exploring the desert and interacting with native communities. Having been raised by all women, it is no surprise that every photograph taken of her shows a strong, unwavering silhouette. These years and her time spent there is the spirit and drive of this year’s collection.

“Such a beautiful, untouched, lonely feeling place, such a fine part of what I call the ‘Faraway’. It is a place I have painted before … even now I must do it again.” – Georgia O’Keeffe’

Daughters of Simone are known for their bohemian collection of wedding dresses, designed for the vagabonds, the hippies, the outlaws – the wanderers and the starry-eyed. This collection is true to the style that they have grown a cult following for, featuring an array of soft ivory crochet laces, buttery silks and smooth chiffons that work together to best show off a woman’s silhouette.

You can find Daughters of Simone gowns online, otherwise in Australia Amante Bridal and Embrace Bridal in Victoria carry a few of their styles, with Love Marie in New South Wales also carrying a few.
