For the Non-Traditional Bride

For the bride not wanting a traditional wedding dress, it can be frustrating find a bridal look that stands out in what sometimes seems like an endless sea of white, tulle and lace. After hours scrolling through instagram compiling inspiration – I feel you.

I have complied my favourite wedding day looks for the non-traditional bride, so if you are after a statement look – be it a mini dress, pants or a bit of colour – I have you covered!

TAKE BLUSHING BRIDE TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL

Rue De Seine has a heap of coloured gowns in their new collection ‘Moonrise Canyon‘, so you can put money on the fact that colour is going to be a big thing this upcoming wedding season!

The bold colour of this Anna Campbell dress paired with the fact it’s sheer means it’s perfect for a dramatic bride who wants to turn heads!

This whisper pink gown by Cathleen Jia is perfect for a more demure bride who wants just a touch of colour without going overboard.

Are you a bride who dares to be bold? This black gown by Love You More Bridal is part of their new collection ‘Lovers’.

WEAR THE PANTS IN A JUMPSUIT

A bridal jumpsuit is perfect for those chic, girl boss vibes. If you don’t usually wear skirts or dresses – why should you have to just because it’s your wedding? Sophie Turner, Solange Knowles and Kaley Cuoco all prove that a bridal jumpsuit is an elegant yet effortless choice for the big day.

This Roland Mouret Wool-crepe Jumpsuit is a chic option perfect to get married in or to swap into at your reception. This style is cut from ivory wool-crepe and has sculptural ruffled cuffs that’ll draw attention to your new rings.

This Halston one-shoulder jumpsuit is made from fluid crepe that beautifully drapes along the asymmetric bodice and has an elasticated waist to define the silhouette before falling to wide-leg pants.

This Lela Rose – Off-the-shoulder Wool-blend jumpsuit is made from a flattering sculpting wool-blend cady and has straight-leg pants and a layered bodice with internal boning for support.

Rime Arodaky likes to challenge traditional bridal looks, and this ‘Braham’ jumpsuit is no exception. The sheer tulle bodice is delicately embroidered with flowers, which look as though they’re floating on bare skin. The pants are tailored from crepe and cropped so you can show off your shoes. It’s the perfect piece for both the wedding ceremony and reception.

Rime Arodaky’s Patsy Jumpsuit has been featured on almost every fashion blog covering the Fall ’18 trends from Bridal Fashion Week in New York. It has crepe cigarette pants and a beige and white bodice that’s hand-embroidered with lace flowers. Turn to reveal the open back and coordinating train for a stunning Instagram moment as you walk down the aisle.

SHINE YOUR WAY DOWN THE AISLE

The Jenny Packham’s ‘Sophia’ gown makes such an easy (and elegant) option for modern brides. Cut in a languid wrap silhouette, this silk-chiffon version has plunging neckline and front slit secured by lustrous satin ties. It’s embellished with scores of sequins and crystals which will glisten so beautifully in photographs.

BRIDAL, BUT MAKE IT BOSS

This Rime Arodaky Jax Belted Dress is beautifully cut from crepe and trimmed with netted lace, it’s tailored in the shape of a blazer and has ties at the waist to cinch your frame. It’s the perfect option for a civil ceremony or to wear it to your rehearsal dinner.

Brides looking for something sleek and modern for their big day (or to channel the iconic wedding style of Bianca Jagger) will love Brandon Maxwell – Layered Crepe Blazer and the coordinating pants. Cut from ivory crepe and tailored to perfection, this piece is slightly loose in shape and has layered lapels that almost look like petals. A single concealed hook is how it fastens, so the overall finish is super clean and minimal.

This Berta Bridal look is bridal boss on steroids. The full length jacket is so extra and I’ll guarantee it’ll turn heads!

RAISE THE HEM WITH A MIDI

This Self-Portrait midi dress floats beautifully down the aisle for a dreamy modern bride. Made from lustrous, crisp taffeta, it has a ruched bodice framed with a sash shoulder strap and elasticated puffed sleeves. The skirt is fitted with concealed side pockets, so you don’t have to carry a clutch.

Galvan’s Pandora Silk-satin Halterneck Midi Dress is a perfect for option for a sophisticated cocktail wedding or civic ceremony. It’s midi length means it’s easier to work the room (and show off a statement pair of heels), this dress is made from silk-satin that drapes so elegantly over the body. Complement the halterneck with an updo or chignon.

Made from soft crepe, this Andrew Gn – Belted Lace-trimmed Appliquéd Crepe Midi Dress has voluminous puffed sleeves and a softly fluted skirt trimmed with lace. Unfasten the zip to create an elegant keyhole at the front.

Roksanda’s Essi Tulle-trimmed Crepe Midi Dress is a sophisticated choice for a wedding reception or engagement dinner. It’s made from ivory crepe for a slim fit and has billowy crepe de chine sleeves. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, from the delicate tulle tracing the V-neckline to the opalescent buttoned cuffs that are the perfect complement to new rings.

This Zimmermann Espionage Bow Dress is a classic little number that will never date. Think of it as a LWD investment! It’s perfect for a civil ceremony – just style it with a pair of killer heels and a feminine pearl clutch and earrings.

BARE IT ALL IN A MINI

Alex Perry is an expert when it comes to memorable and extraordinary bridalwear. This Elyse Strapless Silk-faille

mini dress is made from luminous silk-faille fabric with an inner corset that holds together the flattering silhouette. The strapless neckline has a wraparound cuff, which balances the voluminous skirt – perfect for showcasing a statement necklace.

Danielle Frankel’s refreshing designs are perfect for non-traditional brides – think of them as investments that you can wear beyond the wedding. This off-the-shoulder silk and wool-blend mini dress has exaggerated sleeves that elegantly drape off the shoulders and balance the slim fit. It’s trimmed with covered buttons and cinched at the waist with a grosgrain ribbon.

Rime Arodaky’s ‘Astaire’ dress is part of the label’s ‘Civil’ collection, which focuses on minimal silhouettes and subtle detailing. Perfect for a city wedding, it’s cut in a fluted shape from crepe and has an illusion tulle bodice embroidered with pretty flowers. The ruffled sleeves and open back call for a chignon and adhesive cups.

If you’re recently engaged and looking for the perfect outfit to celebrate, consider Rime Arodaky’s ‘Eleonora’ dress. This elegant style has a diaphanous tulle bodice that makes the floral embroidery appear as though it’s floating on top of your skin – notice how it peeks out beneath the crepe mini skirt, too. You could also wear it to your rehearsal dinner or honeymoon – it’ll look so pretty with a pair of pearl earrings and dewy lip.
