This years Daughters of Simone collection ‘Come Hell of High Water’ was inspired by the American artist, Georgia O’Keeffe.
O’Keeffe spent time in New Mexico from 1934 – 1986 where she lived in solitude as she created some of her best work. She spent her days climbing the white rocks, teaching herself how to drive, exploring the desert and interacting with native communities. Having been raised by all women, it is no surprise that every photograph taken of her shows a strong, unwavering silhouette. These years and her time spent there is the spirit and drive of this year’s collection.
“Such a beautiful, untouched, lonely feeling place, such a fine part of what I call the ‘Faraway’. It is a place I have painted before … even now I must do it again.”– Georgia O’Keeffe’
