New York Bridal Fashion Week Recap

It has been two months since the incredible New York Bridal Fashion week was on, but it is still on my mind! How could it not be? After all, it featured many of the worlds best bridal designers showcasing their incredible Spring / Summer 2016 collections.

The trends from the catwalk suggest that cascading embellishments and florals are things we can expect to see once the weather warms up. As expected, ultra-romantic laces and timeless elegant silhouettes remained as popular as ever – and for good reason!

The passing of one of the greatest fashion designers the world has seen did not do anything to mute the collection by Oscar De La Renta. Instead Peter Copping paid homage to De La Renta in a 25 piece spring collection offering a cross selection of different styles so it would appeal to nearly every bride. His designs ranged from tiered organza, floral and crystal embroidery as well as soft laces. Playful tea length dresses and lace appliquéd cocktail dress also offered a more modern and youthful approach to the De La Renta Collection.

Monique Lhuillier’s collection was inspired by the nostalgia of jewellery boxes with little dancing ballerinas. The modern fairytale gowns were angelic and feminine, with rich embroideries, deep necklines and dramatic tulles which were perfectly completed with intricate metallic beadwork.
