Dana Harel is one of the Israeli bridal designers taking the bridal world by storm.
How She Got Started
Dana Harel has always been enthralled by haute couture fashion so she decided to pursue her passion by studying fashion at Shenkar, Israel’s leading art and design school. While she was there, she fell in love with designing evening gowns and wedding dresses. After her studies, Dana luckily landed a highly coveted position as the assistant to fashion designer Lilach Elgrably, one of Israel’s most celebrated fashion designers. She worked there for about a year and a half before mustering up the courage to pursue her own dream of opening a high-end bridal wear label – known today as Dana Harel Design.
Dana’s Design Aesthetic and Inspiration
Dana Harel’s designs effortlessly combine cutting-edge style with feminine elements, which contain soft features like flowing-cuts, silks, handmade embroidery and other luxurious materials. Dana unique use of unconventional materials such as leather-like flower designs and beads sets her designs apart from the others and have helped her develop a cult following in Israel.
The ‘Daydream’ Collection
The inspiration behind the ‘Daydream’ collection is from the ‘caftan’ or ‘gallabia’ dress – a dress style that is defined by long sleeves along with flowing-cuts, and originates in the Middle East. This collection plays with various styles, textures, fabrics and materials such as Swarovski beads and flower designs made out of leather and other custom-made fabrics. The gowns start at $5,700 AUD.
